Daly, Glenn Share AAA Athlete Of The Week Honors

March 24, 2014

WEST POINT, N.Y. - A pair of outstanding weekend performances produced this week's Army Athletic Association Co-Athletes of the Week. Lacrosse sophomore Alex Daly and sophomore gymnast Jesse Glennshared the honors on Monday after both turned in standout efforts in their respective sports.

Glenn is a two-time AAA Athlete of the Week honoree, having captured the honor on Jan. 20. Daly is the first lacrosse player to garner the recognition this season.

Daly played a pivotal role in helping Army down nationally ranked Lehigh, 6-5, on Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium. The New Market, Md., native went 12-of-15 in the face-off "x" and led all players with a season-high nine ground balls.

Army entered the fourth quarter trailing the Mountain Hawks 5-3, but Daly won all four face-offs and was a huge difference-maker in the Black Knights' comeback victory. His triumphs helped severely limit Lehigh's possessions and allow Army's offense to take over with three goals.

Daly was a preseason All-Patriot League pick and earned first team all-league honors as a freshman in 2013.

Glenn closed out an impressive performance earning four All-America certificates in the individual event finals at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships last Saturday afternoon at host Navy's Macdonough Hall.

After being crowned the all-around national champion along with USAG All-American honors on Friday, Glenn picked up four more certificates in Saturday's individual event finals.

The Army sophomore was runner-up on high bar (15.025) after being edged for the title by two-time champion Nick Gaudlip of Air Force who scored a 15.05.

Glenn was third on parallel bars (14.1) along with a pair of fifth-place finishes on floor exercise (13.775) and pommel horse (13.5) as the top six in each event earned All-America honors.
