WEST POINT, N.Y. – Freshman Peter Kim was named Most Valuable Player and Robby Hill and Harrison Florence also collected awards as the Army golf team handed out its varsity letters and team awards and celebrated the 2013-14 season, Tuesday afternoon at the Groves Training Center.
Fourth-year head coach Brian Watts served as master of ceremonies and praised the team’s dedicated Officer Representatives as well as members of the golf team.
Watts noted the 7.5-3.5 victory over Navy and the 11 program records the team broke during the season, including record-setting Patriot League 54-hole scores from Kim, 20 individual rounds under bar and 35 individual rounds of par or better.
Kim won the Patriot League Tournament, was named league Most Valuable Player and competed in the NCAA Tournament. He was a two-time Patriot Leeague Golfer of the Month and showed a 2-0 record vs. Navy.
Hill shot seven rounds of par or better during the season and was named Most Inspirational. Hill represented Second Lieutenant Emily Perez when he competed in the Patriot All-American, went 2-0 vs. Navy and shot a low round of 69.
Florence competed in eight events, went 1-1 vs. Navy and posted a low round of 70 while being named Most Improved. Florence will join the Aviation branch of the U.S. Army following commencement next week.
In addition to Kim, Hill and Florence, Plunkett, Baerwaldt and Hill, Justin Pagila, Eric Peng and Marcus Plunkett earned varsity letters.
