Carver Finishes Fourth To Pace Army Golf

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. Wes Carver finished fourth to lead a contingent of Army golfers at the Palamoutain Invitational, at two different courses Sunday and Monday.

Army’s five golfers all competed as individuals in the two-day, 36-hole tournament. Nationally ranked Skidmore won the event. Golfers competed at the Saratoga National Golf Club on Sunday and Monday at McGregor Links.

“Wes played very solid,” Army golf coach Jimmy Ray Clevenger said. “This tournament gave guys an opportunity to get into consideration for our lineup at the league championships. There were some positives and negatives but more positives. Things are starting to fall into place for Patriot League’s. We will see how we do this week and get out lineup set.”

Skidmore shot a 295-305600 to win the 11-team event and also had the medalist as Sam DaSilva shot 72-62-142.

Carver, a freshman playing in his second event of the year, shot a 75 on Sunday and a 76 on Monday to finish at seven-over-par for his best career finish.

James Raymond, a sophomore, was also playing in his second event and finished 14th. Raymond shot a 77 during the first round and closed with an 81 for a two-day total of 158.
