PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Pete Mangold sits in second place and the Army golf team is in second place overall after the first day of competition on Saturday at the Eastern Championship at the Triggs Memorial Golf Club in Providence, R.I.
Mangold shot a one-over-par 73 to place second after the first round. Kevin Lee tied with seven others in fifth place with an 18-hole 75. Scott Manley sits tied for 12th with a 76.
David Crawford (82) is tied for 47th after the first round and Ryan Hazelton (83) rounds at Army golfers tied for 58th.
Rhode Island currently leads the compitetion with a 302. Army is in second with 306 followed by Central Connecticut in third with a 309.
The Black Knights will return to action on Sunday morning in the final round of the Eastern Championship in Providence, R.I.
