PURCHASE, N.Y. - Just three days after finishing second in the 16-team Wildcat Invitational, the Army golf team will be back on the course Saturday morning at the Met Intercollegiate hosted by Yale.
The one-day, 36-hole event will be played on two courses. The morning round will take place at the Century Country Club with the afternoon round at Old Oaks Country Club. The Black Knights will compete against Cornell, Georgia, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
Saturday's event is one of the final tune-ups before the Black Knights host the Patriot League Championship at the West Point Golf Course on April 26-27. In a vote of the league's coaches and sports information directors, the Black Knights were chosen the favorite to win the 2014 title. Army received seven first-place votes, finishing with 89 points, one ahead of Loyola. The Greyhounds picked up eight first-place votes. Navy, Lehigh, Bucknell, Lafayette, Colgate and Holy Cross round out the predicted order. The Mountain Hawks also earned a first-place nod.
Rookie Peter Kim finished second at the Wildcat Invitational, posting a 3-over par for the tournament. Kim leads the Black Knights with a 73.88 scoring average through his first 16 collegiate rounds.
Following the Met Intercollegiate, Army will play at the Rutherford Intercollegiate in State College, Pa., April 20-21.
