GRASONVILLE, Md. Matt Hanlon shot a three-over 75 on the final day of competition to lead the Army men’s golf team to a 12th place finish at the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Black Knights shot a team composite score of 310 during the final 18 holes of golf for a two round total of 613.
Hanlon’s two round total of 148 paced Army’s five-man contingent and placed him tied for thirteenth on the individual leaderboard. Sam Walenz, who played par golf on Saturday, finished with a 78 on day two to join Hanlon in the Top 25, firing a two round total of 150.
Mark Garrison (78), Pat Beverly (79) and Joey Cave (79) rounded out the Black Knights five-some on the links Sunday, as the team record an aggregate score of 310 on the final day of competition and finished with a 613 two-day total to finish tied for 12th in the 21 team field with host Towson.
St. John’s won the team title firing an impressive 580 thanks in large part to Keegan Bradley, who fired a 142 en route to the individual trophy.
Army next competes in two weeks when it heads to Providence, R.I. for the New England Championships (April 14-15) in its final tune up before the Patriot League Championships (April 21-22).
