Four of its golfers shot in the 70s and the Army golf team fired a final round 307 and the Black Knights placed 15th at the Fireline Towson Invitational, Sunday afternoon at Prospect Bay Country Club.
Army, playing its third event in as many weeks, shot its best round of the tournament on Sunday and placed 15th with a 937 (314-316-307) in the 19-team field at the par-72 course.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro won the tournament with an 866, followed by Kent State (872), Campbell (894), Delaware (900) and Towson (900).
Mackenzie Hughes of Kent State won medalist honors with a five-under-par 213.
Senior captain James Raymond shot a final round 75 and finished at 234 for the championship in 54th place. Wes Carver fired a 76 on Sunday and came in at 239 in a tie for 74th place. Matt Philie was the top Army finisher with a 77 on Sunday and a 231 for the event to tie for 42nd place. William Park concluded his second round in the 70s with a 79 on Sunday and tied for 66th with a 238. Matt Krembel tied for 77th with an 80 in the final round and a 240 for the weekend.
The Black Knights will enjoy a week off before returning to play at the Lafayette Spring Invitational April 9-11 in Bethlehem, Pa.
