WILMINGTON, N.C.  – The Army golf team will end their month-long hiatus on Sunday when it begins play at the Seahawk Intercollegiate hosted by UNC Wilmington. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the Nicklaus Course – Pines & Ocean at the Country Club of Landfall.

The Black Knights’ five-man team is scheduled to tee off on the first three holes beginning at 8:45 a.m. The Army players will be paired with competitors from the host Seahawks and South Carolina. The second round will also be played on Sunday with the final 18 holes scheduled for Monday.

Other members of the 13-team field, include Campbell, Davidson, Delaware, East Tennessee State, Elon, East Carolina, Louisville, Navy, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

The Nicklaus – Pines & Ocean Course is set up to play 6,761 yards at par 72. The course, which opened in 2001, was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.

The Black Knights are playing in their first competition since a second-place showing in the Gary Freeman Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 16-17.

This weekend’s event marks the fourth annual Seahawk Intercollegiate. UNCW won its own tournament in 2011 and 2013. Augusta State won the inaugural event in 2010 and East Carolina took the crown in 2012.
