SAPPHIRE, N.C. - Anthony Kim shot a one-over-par 72 and Army finished 10th as the Black Knights wrapped up their fall campaign at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
Kim tied for 14th after a 36-hole total of 145. Army shaved four strokes off their team total and shot a 298 on Sunday. The Black Knights placed 10th in the 13-team event with a 600.
Samford won the 13-team event with a two-day total of 570, a two-over-par finish. Western Carolina and Belmont tied for second at 582 while Gardner-Webb was fourth at 585. Francis Marion and Wofford tied for fifth with tournament totals of 589.
Casey O'Toole fired back-to-back rounds of 69 to win the individual championship with a138, three strokes better than Daniel Kim and Daley Byles of Gardner-Webb.
Marcus Plunkett followed up a 72 with a 75 and tied for 22nd at 147. Eric Peng was three strokes better with a 75 on Sunday and tied for 45th with a 153. Matt Philie shaved four strokes off of his first round and tied for 63rd with a 156. Robby Hill shot an 84 and placed 75th with a 163.
The tournament concluded a busy fall season for Army. In addition to dispatching Navy in the annual dual match and beating Columbia, the Black Knights shared the team title with Air Force at the Service Academy Classic.
