Army Tied For Second At Service Academy Classic

COLTS NECK, N.J.  – Anthony Kim is tied for the lead and Army shares second place as the Service Academy Classic got underway at Trump National in Colts Neck, N.J.

Kim shot rounds of 72 and 76 is tied for first with Andrew Hoops of Air Force following 36 holes at the par-72, 7,100-yard layout.

Navy leads the three-team, 54-hole event with a 597 with Army and Air Force six strokes behind. Each team is playing six individuals with the low four scores contributing to the team score. Each service academy also has three individuals competing.

Tuesday’s 18-hole final round will begin with tee times at 8 a.m.

Kim, a junior, shot an even-par 72 in the morning and a 76 in the afternoon and is at 147 for the championship.

Freshman John Lee is tied for six with a 151 after rounds of 73 and 78, while senior Matt Philie and freshman Marcus Plunkett are tied for eighth. Both shot rounds of 77 and 76.

Freshman Eric Peng is tied for 16th at 155 after shooting 78 and 77 and Brandon junior Baerwaldt is tied for 23 rd with a 163 after 18s of 86 and 77.

Harrison Florence shot the low score of Army’s individuals with a 154 on rounds of 75 and 79. He is tied for 14th. Brandon Roberts is tied for 25th with a 165 on scores of 84 and 81 and Robby Hill is 26th with a 166 after shooting 88 and 78.
