JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - Freshman Marcus Plunkett fired a career-best four-under-par in his final round to help Army to an 11th-place finish, Sunday at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Plunkett, who shot his first collegiate under-par round during Friday's opening 18 holes, put together a 68 on Sunday and finished at 218 for the championship, two-over-par, and in a tie for 23rd place.
Army shot an 881 for the weekend after Sunday's 292.
Missouri won the team championship with an 857, one stroke in front of Tennessee and two better than North Carolina Wilmington.
Grant Milner of Memphis won medalist honors with a 10-under-par score of 206. Evan Beck of Wake Forest was second with a 208 followed by Emilio Cuartero of Missouri at 201.
Plunkett's classmate, John Lee, shot his second round of even-par at the 13-team event at Blackthorn Club, a 7,147-yard layout. Lee had rounds of 72-75-72 and tied for 29th with a 219.
Junior Anthony Kim shot a 222 following a 78 while freshman Eric Peng continued his consistent weekend at the same score. Peng shot 74-74-73 and joined Kim in a tie for 47th.
Robby Hill completed the Army contingent with an 81 and a 244 for the weekend. He finished 72nd.
Army will return to action at the Service Academy Classic, Oct. 21-22 at Trump National in Colts Neck, N.J.
