HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Army golf team wrapped up its first competition of the 2013-14 season, finishing fourth at the Colgate Invitational presented by Steelberry. Army finished Sunday’s final round, which featured wet weather conditions at the beginning of the day, at 28-over-par as a team, just four shots off the second-place score.

Binghamton captured the team title, shooting 16-over-par during the three rounds.

The Black Knights finished second among the five Patriot League teams competing in the event. Army was only one shot behind third-place Lehigh while besting fifth-place Bucknell by 14 strokes.

Sophomore Marcus Plunkett and freshman Justin Pagila finished tied for 12th place in the individual standings. Plunkett started slowly on Saturday with a first-round 80, but fired a 69 in the second round. That was the lone round in the 60s by any player during the event. He jumped four spots in the final rankings with a 3-over-par 75 on Sunday. Pagila, making his collegiate debut, advanced two spots up the leaderboard on Sunday with a final round 76. Both he and Plunkett were 8-over-par for the tournament.
