Erzinger, Maples Lead Army All-Independent Selections

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army senior LB Steven Erzinger was named to the both the 2011 FBS All-Independent Team and Phil Steele's Postseason All-Independent squad. Erzinger led the Black Knights' defense with a career-high 103 tackles.

Sophomore RB Raymond Maples was honored on both teams as well. Maples was an FBS All-Independent Team selection and second-team choice by Phil Steele. Maples posted the 15th 1,000-yard rushing season in Academy history, finishing ninth on the Army single-season list with 1,066 yards. Maples 7.3 yards per rush average was the best of any Army player with at least 100 rushing attempts in a season.

In addition to Maples and Erzinger, junior OG Frank Allen, junior DT A.J. Mackey, senior LB Andrew Rodriguez and junior CB Josh Jackson were second-team All-Independent choices by Phil Steele. Freshman OL Ryan Powis, senior OL Robert Kava, freshman FB Larry Dixon, junior DE Zach Watts and freshman LB Geoffery Bacon were FBS All-Independent Team honorable mention selections.
