West Point, N.Y. - - Army head football coach Rich Ellerson welcomed the newest members of the Army football program on Monday as the Academy's Class of 2015 reported to West Point for Reception Day.

Of the 55 new Black Knights that began their West Point experience on Monday, 25 are directly from the high school ranks while 30 played football at the U.S. Military Academy Prep School (USMAPS) in 2010.

Twenty-five states from all geographic locations are represented in the 2011 recruiting class. California and Texas lead the way with six players each, while New York and Wisconsin each produced five Army newcomers. Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois and Washington boast three members of this year's incoming class.

The signees are split almost equally between offense and defense. Twenty-six players are slated for the offensive side of the ball, 28 are currently assigned to the defense and one player will be utilized on special teams. Both lines are the biggest beneficiaries with 11 defensive linemen and 10 offensive linemen joining the Black Knights. Defensively, the group includes 10 defensive backs and seven linebackers, while on offense there are eight running backs, four quarterbacks and four wide receivers.

The Black Knights begin their 122nd season on Sept. 3 at Northern Illinois. Army makes it 2011 home debut the following week when it hosts San Diego State.
