TAMPA, Fla. - Army senior LB Steven Erzinger has been chosen to participate in the 2012 East-West Shrine Game. The annual contest featuring college all-stars from around the nation will be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Jan. 21, 2012.
Erzinger, one of Army's team captains last season, led the Black Knights' defense with 103 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss. His 3.0 quarterback sacks also tied for the team lead. Erzinger was a first-team All-Independent selection by Phil Steele Publications.
For his career, Erzinger played in 45 games and racked up 255 career tackles. He posted 20 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception and seven pass breakups.
The 2012 edition of the East-West Shrine game will be the 11th consecutive contest featuring an Army player. Defensive end Josh McNary represented the Black Knights in the 2011 contest.
