Army lost its 10th straight game versus its arch rival. The Black Knights’ last win against Navy came in 2001. The Mids’ 10-game winning streak is the longest in series history by either team. Navy holds a 56-49-7 series lead.

The loss was the Black Knights’ 13th straight in the Commander In Chief’s Trophy series. Army’s last win came at Air Force in 2005.

Army has lost 16 straight games in professional venues. The Black Knights’ last win in a stadium that also houses a professional sports franchise was versus the Mids at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia in 2001. (Lincoln Financial Field, 0-9; Yankee Stadium, 0-2; Giants Stadium, 0-1; Cleveland Browns Stadium, 0-1; M&T Bank Stadium, 0-1; New Meadowlands Stadium, 0-1).

 Army’s four straight losses to end the season mark the longest losing streak under head coach Rich Ellerson.

The Black Knights lost all eight of their games this season away from West Point. Army was 0-6 on the road and 0-2 in neutral site games.

The Black Knights dropped to 9-43 since the start of the 2006 season when on the wrong side of the turnover margin. Navy scored 17 points following Army’s three turnovers.

Army’s six-point margin of defeat was the smallest in an Army-Navy game during the Mids’ 10-year run. The last time Navy defeated Army by less than 12 points was a 30-28 victory on Dec. 2, 2000.

Sophomore RB Raymond Maples rushed for 82 yards to run his season total 1,066. It was the 15th time an Army player cracked the 1,000-yard mark, and only the third time a sophomore reached the millenium mark. Maples’ total ranks ninth on the Black Knights’ single-season ledger.

Maples finished the season with a 7.301 yards-per-carry average, the highest ever by an Army player with at least 100 rushes in a season (1,066 yds./146 att.). It ranks tied for fourth overall regardless of attempts.

Junior Jared Hassin started at one of the wishbone halfback positions. It is the first time he has started a game at a position other than fullback in his career.

Junior QB Trent Steelman became the seventh Army player to amass 4,000-or-more yards of total offense during their career. Steelman ranks fifth on the Black Knights’ all-time list with 4,128 yards of total offense (2,072 rush/2,056 pass). He is the first Army player to rush for 2,000 yards and pass for 2,000 yards in their career.

Steelman’s 34-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was his 12th of the season, putting him in sole possession of second place on Army’s single season rushing touchdowns by a quarterback ledger. Steelman was tied with his 2010 total of 11 rushing scores. Troy Crawford holds the record with 15 in 1986.

Junior SB Maclolm Brown scored two touchdowns versus Navy for the second straight year. He has three receiving scores and a rushing touchdown against the Mids in the last two seasons.

Army finished the season with a school-record 4,158 yards. The 2011 team is the first to crack the 4,000-yard mark. The Black Knights’ 346.5 rushing yards per game ties for the fifth-highest all-time at Army.

The Black Knights rushed for 35 touchdowns in 2011 which ties for fifth on Army’s single-season list.

Freshman DT Jacob Drozed forced a Navy fumble inside the Army 20-yard line on the Mids’ first possession. It was Drozd’s first career forced fumble.

Junior LB Nate Combs recorded two quarterback sacks in the first half. Combs entered the game with one career sack, a QB takedown versus Northwestern earlier this season. Combs’ two tackles for loss were also a career high.

Senior LB Steven Erzinger recorded a team-high 11 tackles. Erzinger finished the season with a team-high 103 tackles. His 249 career stops ranks 23rd on the Army ledger.

Junior DB Tyler Dickson made a career-high 10 tackles, his first career double-digit effort.

Senior K Alex Carlton was 3-for-3 on extra points against Navy. He finished his career ranked third all-time at Army with 87 PATs. Carlton also leaves the Black Knights ranked second all-time in field goals made (36) and sixth in caree field goal percentage (.692).
