WEST POINT, N.Y. – A 23-year veteran of Army Athletics, Barb McMillen has joined the Black Knights’ men’s basketball staff as an administrative assistant. It is her second stint with the program after serving in a similar capacity from 1990-97.
McMillen began her career with the department in March 1989 as an administrative assistant for head football coach Jim Young. In 1989, she shifted responsibilities to the athletic communications and team operations offices before moving to the men’s basketball program in January 1990.
“I am very excited to be back working with the men’s basketball team, Coach Spiker and the assistant coaches,” McMillen said. “It’s like I’ve come full circle, and I could not be any happier.”
Following her first stint with the team, McMillen served as an administrative assistant with the department’s internal operations, which included duties in financial management and human resources. She worked in that capacity for the next 15 years before returning the men’s basketball team.
“Barb is a great addition to our staff,” head coach Zach Spiker said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be a tremendous help as we continue to move the program forward. My assistants and I are all excited to work with Barb, and are looking forward to her contributions to our success.”
McMillen resides in Cornwall, N.Y., with her husband Les, who serves as the athletic director, head football coach and head boys’ basketball coach at the New York Military Academy.
