WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army players Jason Pancoe and Matt Gramling were part of the 2012-13 Patriot League Men's Basketball Academic Honor Roll announced Monday afternoon. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester.
Pancoe's selection marked the fourth time he earned the honor. A systems management major, Pancoe posted a 3.42 grade point average in his final semester at West Point. Gramling, who just completed his freshman year, earned a 3.32 GPA during the spring semester. Gramling was one of only six Patriot League rookies to earn the distinction.
"We are working to have a complete program that performs in the classroom as well as on the court," Army head coach Zach Spiker said. "Jason and Matt have set a clear example for our program with their academic performance. Jason has been a consistent presence on the honor roll, while Matt's accomplishment demonstrates his ability to balance athletics, military responsibilities, and academic workload, which can be particularly difficult during the first year on campus. We are very proud of our team's overall academic progress, especially Jason and Matt for their individual performances this past spring."
