Senior catcher J.T. Watkins will take Army baseball fans on a journey throughout the 2012 season through his blog Behind the Plate. Watkins, who is serving as one of the Black Knights' co-captains this year, was an All-Patriot League selection last season. Check back weekly to follow along with the inside happenings of the Army baseball team.
After a tough loss last night against Marist, we're looking forward to getting back on the field this weekend. We did not play our best baseball, and they made us pay. Hopefully the fans enjoyed the experience, though. It is always great to play in front of all of those fans from the Hudson Valley. Fortunately for us, we get another shot to play this weekend in Worcester, Mass. After a successful weekend against Bucknell, we identified a few things we need to work on, and we will use the next two days of preparation to get better.
It was awesome to be a part of Logan's no-hitter last Saturday. He threw the ball extremely well, and he deserved it. Logan works so hard on the field and in the weight room to take care of himself physically and mentally. The whole staff threw well last weekend, but they still are hungry for more. It's awesome to see them work day in and day out.
This weekend, we have probably our toughest matchup of the year in Holy Cross. They play hard, and are more talented than a lot of people gave them credit for early in the season. It will be a challenge, no doubt. Our preparation is the same as it has been. With a good two days of work on the field, we'll be ready for another opportunity.
