Army Game Notes Get Acrobat Reader

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army returns to action on Wednesday, April 25, when the Black Knights travel to Fishkill, N.Y., to face Marist in the seventh annual WRWD Hudson Valley Baseball Classic. The contest, which will be played at Dutchess Stadium, is set to get under way at 6:05 p.m.

Army fans who are unable to attend the game can listen to Rich DeMarco's radio broadcast across the Army Sports Network in the Hudson Valley on WALL (1340-AM) and WEOK (1390-AM).

The Army Athletic Communications Office will provide an in-game blog at and offer Twitter updates at Live statistics will also be provided via GameTracker on Army's website.

Additionally, a video stream of the game will be offered as part of Army's ITT Exelis Knight Vision subscription package. Three cameras will be utilized. Fans can access the game by clicking on the video tab of

Those fans in attendance at the event are encouraged to send photos to @ArmyAthletics and use the hashtag #HVBC. Photos can be submitted through the fifth inning. The three finalists will be chosen and shown on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning. The crowd will determine the best photo and the winner will be awarded a WRWD Hudson Valley Baseball Classic t-shirt and a voucher for a future Renegades game. The winner will be announced via Twitter and can collect their prize at the stadium.

Army (33-9, 16-0 PL) has won nine straight games and 28 of its last 33 contests. The Black Knights have already clinched their sixth Patriot League regular-season title in nine years. Army is now closing in on the first 40-win season in program history.

Marist (15-20, 7-7 MAAC) has won five of its last six games after beginning the season 10-19. The Red Foxes took two out of three games from conference rival Rider last weekend.

Army's superior pitching has led the Black Knights all season long. During last weekend's four-game sweep of Bucknell, Army allowed just two runs over 38 innings. The Black Knights show a 3.11 earned run average as a team. Eight Army pitchers boast earned run averages below 4.00, including all four of the Black Knights' weekend starters.

Junior RHP Chris Rowley (9-0, 0.95 ERA) headlines that contingent as the third-year hurler ranks among the nation's leaders in victories, earned run average, shutouts (five) and hits allowed per nine innings (4.59). The Duluth, Ga., native has set Academy records for shutouts, consecutive shutouts (four), consecutive scoreless innings (29) and consecutive innings without giving up an earned run (29). He is rapidly approaching Army's single-season wins record (10).

Senior LHP Logan Lee (5-1, 3.53 ERA), sophomore LHP Nick Dignacco (5-2, 3.53 ERA) and freshman RHP Alex Robinett (3-1, 2.33 ERA) have been outstanding as starters this season as well. Lee, who has earned Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors each of the last two weeks, threw the fourth no-hitter in Academy history last weekend versus Bucknell.

Senior INF Kevin McKague has sparked the Army offense this season, leading the Black Knights with a.378 batting average, 12 doubles, four home runs, 35 runs batted in and a .541 slugging percentage. He also leads the team with a .486 on-base-percentage, while listing among the Black Knights' leaders with 27 runs scored, 20 walks and nine stolen bases.

Senior OF Cody Murtle has exploded offensively of late. The fourth-year performer is tied with McKague with 35 RBI, while ranking second in both doubles (eight) and home runs (three). Freshman INF Harold Earls, meanwhile, leads Army with 17 stolen bases, lists second with a .351 batting average and ranks among the team leaders with 27 runs scored, five doubles, 19 walks and 18 RBI.

Jake Berry leads Marist offensively with a .326 batting average, four triples and 26 runs scored. He also lists among the Red Foxes' leaders with three doubles, 16 RBI and a .407 slugging percentage. Pat Welsh tops Marist with nine doubles and is tied for the team lead with 18 runs batted in.

The Marist pitching staff carries a 5.33 earned run average into Wednesday's showdown. Chad Gallagher (4-3, 4.73 ERA) paces the group with four wins and 32 strikeouts. Jake Rifkin, who leads the Red Foxes with 16 appearances, has served as Marist's closer in 2012. He leads the team with four saves and ranks second on the squad with a 2.20 earned run average.

Army and Marist have met 22 times previously in a series that began in 1994. The Red Foxes hold a 13-9 advantage in the all-time series after defeating the Black Knights, 15-7, in last year's Hudson Valley Baseball Classic. Army and Marist have split the first six Hudson Valley Baseball Classic matchups with each school winning three times.

Following Wednesday's matchup versus Marist, Army will travel to Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross in a four-game Patriot League series on April 28-29.
