Army Opens Home Slate Wednesday Versus Quinnipiac

WEST POINT, N.Y. - After wrapping up its spring break trip with a 4-3 record, the Army baseball team returns to West Point for its home opener on Wednesday, March 20, when the Black Knights host Quinnipiac at Doubleday Field.

First pitch for the non-league contest is slated for 3 p.m., and live stats for the contest will be available via GameTracker by logging onto Army's official athletics website ( In-game Twitter updates will also be offered through the official Twitter handle of Army Baseball (@Army_Baseball).

A live video streamed broadcast of the game will be available through Knight Vision, the Black Knights' subscription-based multimedia platform.

Army (4-10) opened its trip to Florida by sweeping a three-game series from Yale. The Black Knights also picked up a win against Miami (Ohio).

Chris Rowley (1-2, 3.42 ERA), Alex Robinett (2-1, 3.90 ERA) and Brock Davidson (1-1, 6.05 ERA) have comprised the Black Knights' starting rotation through the first month of the season. Robinett leads the team with 27.2 innings pitched, while Rowley tops the club with 13 strikeouts.

Justin French, who ranks second among the Black Knights' relievers with five appearances out of the bullpen, boasts a tidy 1.80 ERA and five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Patrick Mescher leads the Army offense with a .356 batting average and .516 on-base percentage. Jon Crucitti, who enjoyed a spectacular showing in Florida, currently ranks second on the team with a .347 batting average. Jacob Page (three doubles, 11 RBI) and Alex Jensen (four doubles, 11 RBI) have supplied some of the Black Knights' best power numbers thus far.

Quinnipiac enters Wednesday's matchup with a 5-5 overall record. The Bobcats have a .304 batting average as a team, while showing a 3.59 team earned run average.

Scott Donaghue paces the Bobcats' offense with a .351 batting average. Derek Lamacchai (2-1) has proven to be Quinnipiac's top starting pitcher thus far. He currently leads the squad with 16 strikeouts and 22.0 innings pitched. His 0.41 ERA lists third on the club.

Army and Quinnipiac have met eight times previously and the Black Knights hold a 4-2-2 edge in the all-time series. Army has won the last three encounters, including last season's 3-0 victory at West Point.

Following Wednesday's game, Army will continue its 10-game homestand by hosting NYIT (12 p.m.) and Columbia (3 p.m.) on Saturday, March 23.
