CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
After helping the Black Knights open their spring break trip to Florida by sweeping a three-game series from Yale this past weekend, Army freshman outfielder Jacob Page was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Page, who is the first Black Knights to win one of the conference's weekly awards this season, posted tremendous offensive numbers against the Bulldogs. The first-year performer led Army with a .556 (5-for-9) batting average, .667 slugging percentage and .636 on-base percentage. He also scored five runs, drove in four, belted one double and was 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.
The talented rookie was especially impressive in Saturday's doubleheader, going 4-for-7 with four RBI and three runs scored. Page went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in to help Army take a 14-4 decision in the opening game. He was even better in the nightcap, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored as the Black Knights posted an 8-4 victory. Page went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Army's 4-1 triumph in the series finale on Sunday.
For the season, Page leads Army with three doubles, four stolen bases, seven RBI and a .424 sluggling percentage, while listing second in batting average (.333). He has played errorless defense, while also picking up a pair of outfield assists.
Chris Rowley and Alex Jensen earned recognition from the Patriot League as well, with both players earning a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll.
Rowley tossed seven scoreless innings en route to his first victory of the young season on Sunday. He scattered eight hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter. Jensen, meanwhile, batted .417 (5-for-12) with five runs scored and four RBI against Yale. He was particularly good in the series opener on Saturday, going 3-for-3 with a career-high four RBI, a career-best three runs scored and a career-high six total bases.
