WEST POINT, N.Y. - Academic All-Patriot League Team honoree Kendall Ward added to his academic honors this season, as he was voted to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 First Team on Thursday. First-team honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-American Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-Americans will be selected in June.

Ward becomes Army’s third consecutive All-District First Team selection after Lisa Junta and Tom Wagner were recognized in 2013 and 2012, respectively.

The senior finished with a season-best 14:42.38 to place second in the 5,000-meter run in a dual meet against Navy on April 5 before clocking a 14:44.19 and finishing fifth in the event at the Patriot League Championships on May 3. Additionally, Ward ran an IC4A-qualifying time of 30:12.02 in the 10,000-meter run at the Mount Sac Relays on April 17 in Walnut, Calif.

An Economics major, Ward wrapped up his college career with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.961.

To be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to their team and must hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher.
