WEST POINT, N.Y.  – Army track and field will compete in its second outdoor meet of the season when the Black Knights travel to the Tribe Invitational hosted by William & Mary this weekend in Williamsburg, Va. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s but sunny at Zable Stadium, with events beginning Friday with the hammer throw and 10,000-meter run.

The Black Knights already have one postseason qualifier in the hammer as senior tri-captain Nick Snoad exceeded IC4A Championship-qualifying standards at last weekend’s season-opening meet at Coastal Carolina. Snoad was one of five Black Knights to punch their postseason tickets during Army’s spring break trip to South Carolina as Kyler Martin (110-meter hurdles, 400m-H), Thomas Ryan (110m-H) and Chris Smith (400m-H) all earned qualifying marks in the hurdles, while Jospeh Yow and Peter Miller recorded sufficient marks in the javelin.

Army multi athletes Chris Kittle and Lindsey Danilack also earned temporary qualifying marks in their respective events, but unlike all other events, the decathlon and heptathlon qualifiers are based on the descending order list and not a specific point total.

The Tribe Invitational will mostly be contested on Saturday with events beginning at 11 a.m. with the long jump. Track events get under way on Day 2 with the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:45 a.m. Army was successful in the steeplechase last weekend as senior Mark Castelli claimed the men’s title in the event while classmate Mary Prakel finished in third on the women’s side.

Following Army’s trip to Virginia, the Black Knights will return to West Point to prepare for their first home meet of the outdoor season. Army will host the Dick Shea Open March 29-30 at Shea Stadium.
