WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army track and field had 22 athletes record 31 qualifying marks in 18 individual events and four relays for the 2012 ECAC and IC4A Indoor Championships, which are slated for this weekend at Boston’s Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. With injuries factored in, the Black Knights will send 11 individual competitors and three relay units to the meet.

On the men’s side, Army will send eight individuals and two relays. Leading off the weekend will be Dan Nix in the mile trials, scheduled for Saturday at 1:40 p.m. Nix will be followed by classmate Taylor Kensy at 2:35 p.m., who was one of three Black Knights to run a qualifying time in the 500 meters, but the lone one scheduled to race this weekend.

Other individual men’s trials slated for Saturday are the 800-meter run (2:50 p.m.), 1,000m (3:05) and the 200-meter dash (3:20). Freshman Clyde Wilson is entered in the 800m, while junior Kevin Russell will run the 1,000m and sophomore Michael Hoffman is scheduled for the 200m.

Russell and Wilson will team with Nathan Fisher and Ian MacPherson in the 4x800-meter relay (4:15), while Kensy will run with Patrick Taylor, Chris Smith and Matt Green in the 4x400m (4:40).

In finals-only events, sophomore Ricardo Galindo is entered for the 3,000-meter run, while Justin Harris and Ian Quinn made qualifying leaps in the pole vault. Both slated for Sunday, the pole vault will begin at 11 a.m., while the 3,000m is scheduled for 2:40 p.m.

For the Army women, distance runners highlight the qualifiers in senior Chelsea Prahl, sophomore Liz O’Donnell and freshman Lisa Junta. Prahl will compete in the mile trials at 1:40 p.m., Saturday, while O’Donnell and Junta will both compete in the 3,000-meter run finals on Sunday at 2:40 p.m.

The Black Knight women also had a qualifying relay team, as freshmen Katrina Donarski and Jillian Collins will team with sophomore Allie Sutherland and senior Shalela Dowdy in the 4x800m. The relay trials will kick off on Saturday at 4:15 p.m.

The ECAC and IC4A Championships mark the final indoor event of the season for the Black Knights. Following this weekend’s competition, Army will compete next on March 16, when it opens the outdoor season at the USF Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
