JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Army junior Nick Snoad's trip to the NCAA East Region's preliminary round came to an end on Friday at North Florida's Hodges Stadium. Snoad missed the cut to advance to the NCAA Championships by falling outside the top 12 of the 48-person field.
Competing in the hammer throw, Snoad placed 37th with a toss of 55.98 meters on his second attempt. The junior fouled on his first and third throws. Snoad finished his most successful season so far by landing at No. 2 on the Patriot League's 2012 descending order list in the hammer throw, as well as seventh on Army's all-time top-10 list.
The field of 48 was split into three heats, with the top 16 competing in a three-throw final. The top-12 throwers of Friday's final earned invites to the NCAA Championships. Princeton's Conor McCullough finished first overall with a toss of 72.40m, while fellow Patriot League thrower Joseph Leonard of Bucknell bookended the qualifiers with his 12th-place throw of 62.86m.
