Laura Finucane enters her second season with the Army program. She works closely with the distance and middle-distance runners on the track teams, while also adding her insight during the cross country season. Additionally, Finucane assists with the Black Knights' recruiting efforts and coordinates the team's travel arrangements.
In 2004, Finucane helped guide the women's cross country team to its first Patriot League title since 1997, as five Black Knights earned all-Patriot League honors.
Last season on the track, Finucane helped guide a pair of individual championships at the league's outdoor meet. She also guided Margaret Clark to the school record in the 1,000 meters.
Prior to arriving at Army, Finucane spent three years as the head cross county and track & field coach at Mt. Mercy Academy in Buffalo, N.Y. She coached three athletes to the New York State Public High School Track and Field Championships and one to the State Federation Cross Country Championship.
While a student at Canisius, Finucane captained the women's cross country and track and field teams and was a seven-time selection to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
After earning her undergraduate degree in 2001, Finucane remained at Canisius as a graduate assistant to complete a master's degree in exercise physiology.
Finucane resides at West Point, N.Y. She is engaged to Capt. Kevin Kirchgraber, who is assigned to the 10th Mountain Division Headquarters at Ft. Drum, N.Y.
