CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Army senior diving standout Chris Nguyen tied the Patriot League single-season record by earning his seventh Male Diver of the Week certificate, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Nguyen, who has been honored as the Patriot League Male Diver of the Week 17 times during his decorated career, tied the conference's single-season record, which was established by Navy's Kevin Teague during the 2005-06 campaign.
Nguyen swept both diving events in Army's 180-115 victory at Lehigh on Friday night, taking gold in the one-meter competition (357.37 points) and winning off the three-meter board with a Lehigh pool record of 355.05 markers. Nguyen outdistanced the competition by nearly 48 points off the one-meter board and almost 35 markers off the three-meter.
Nguyen continued to impress on Saturday in the Black Knights' 165-135 win at Bucknell, winning the three-meter event (335.25) and placing runner-up off the one-meter board (298.05). His winning score in the three-meter competition was more than 21 points higher than the second-place finisher.
The Army swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday, Jan. 18, when the Black Knights travel to Newark, Del., to face Delaware in a non-league dual meet.
