Assitant Coach

Alma Mater:
Stony Brook, 2012

Army swimming and diving coach Mickey Wender added Darcy Heuser to his staff during the 2013 preseason. The 2012 Stony Brook graduate joined the West Point staff in 2013 with four years of NCAA Division I knowledge as a freestyle swimmer as well as a year of assistant coaching experience at Miami (Ohio) University.

Prior to her impressive stint at Stony Brook, Heuser made a name for herself as a member of the WTRC Sharks Swim Team from 2000-2008 in her hometown of Oxford, OH. In 2006, Heuser became a team record holder for the 1500-meter freestyle and began to compete in major swimming and diving meets. Starting in 2006, Heuser swam in the U.S. Open, competed at the U.S Junior Nationals, qualified for the Senior Nationals, competed in the Santa Clara Grand Prix and swam in the Charlotte Ultra Swim Grand Prix. Upon graduating from Centerville High School in 2008, Heuser also added All-American high school team and was a top-8 swimmer in multiple events in Ohio to her resume.

After earning a full athletic scholarship at SUNY Stony Brook in 2008, Heuser took on the task of becoming the ideal student-athlete. While maintaining her Dean's List status throughout her four-year collegiate career, Heuser made an immediate impact on the Seawolves' club. A two-year team captain, Heuser was a three-time America East all-conference swimmer, a two-time America East All-Academic Team member and a nine-time school record holder for the 100, 200, 500, 1000, 1650 freestyle, 400 and 800-yard relays and 400 medley relay. In addition, Heuser was named Stony Brook's most valuable player and nominated for America East Rookie of the Year in 2009, as well as becoming a three-time America East swimmer of the week from 2008-2009.

Upon leaving her legacy behind at Stony Brook, Heuser used her knowledge and experience in the pool to guide student-athletes at the Miami (Ohio) where her tasks included running in-pool and dry-land practices and assisting with the recruiting of prospective athletes. Coaching at both a club and collegiate level has helped Heuser gain valuable insight in the sport of swimming.

Heuser holds a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art with a Digital Media minor. She also received the Undergraduate Recognition Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2009 and Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities honorable mention 2011 and was a participant in 2012.
