Men’s Soccer Adds 12 Newcomers

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head men's soccer coach Russell Payne announced the addition of 12 players for the 2017 season.
The Class of 2021 has cadets from nine different states and is broken up by three forwards, five midfielders, and four defenders. Five of those newcomers who have competed on club programs in the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) and one player was a member of the U18 U.S. Men's National Team.

Alec Belcastro | Midfielder | 5-8 | 156 | Washington, Pa.
Belcastro comes to West Point from Washington, Pa., where he attended Kiskiminetas Springs School and played club soccer with Centry V FC. He was a three-year varsity starter and earned All-Conference First Team nods following each of those years.
Noah Breslaw | Forward | 6-3 | 175 | Littleton, Colo.
Breslaw joins Army after gaining the experience of playing for both the U16 and U18 Real Colorado teams of the USSDA. He was a member of the U14 Colorado Olympic Development Program and was the second leading scorer for the Far West Regional League. In 2014 his high school team (Heritage HS) won the Colorado State Championship, while finishing as runner-ups in 2015. Breslaw was a member of the National Honors Society during his junior and senior year and finished seventh in his class.
Deco Costa | Defender | 5-8 | 165 | Kendall, Fla.
Costa arrives from Kendall, Fla., where he attended John A. Ferguson High School. He played club soccer with Kendall Soccer Coalition of the USSDA. With his club team, Costa participated on both the U16 and U18 sides and was a U.S. Soccer Training Center attendee. Costa was a three-time team captain with Kendall SC and served on his regional team through the Olympic Development Program in 2011 and 2010. Costa finished in the top 10 percent of his class.
Aubrey Evans | Defender | 6-1 | 172 | Olathe, Kan.
Evans attended Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and played club soccer for Sporting Blue Valley. He collected NSCAA All-Midwest Central Region nods, while also being tabbed the Kansas 5A Defensive Player of the Year. Evans garnered first team accolades from the Kansas 5A All-State organization and the All-Eastern Kansas League, while notching Eastern Kansas League Defensive Player of the Year praise as well. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a member of the National Honors Society.
Alex Field | Midfielder | 5-9 | 168 | Johns Creek, Ga.
Field played for Concorde Fire Elite of the USSDA and for Chattahoochee High School. He garnered All-Region First Team nods during his junior and senior season, while also being tabbed a two-time team captain. In 2017, Field helped his high school team earn the Georgia State Championship. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Matt Flynn | Midfielder | 5-9 | 162 | Elkridge, Md.
A midfielder from Elkridge, Md., Flynn arrives at West Point after playing for the Baltimore Armour of the USSDA, who were ranked No. 9 nationally during the 2017 season. He helped his club team into the 2017 USSDA Playoffs and was invited to multiple U.S. Soccer National Training Centers. Flynn was a member of the National Honors Society while attending Howard High School.
Roman Guiseppi | Midfielder/Defender | 6-0 | 175 | Orlando, Fla.
Guiseppi joins the Black Knights from Orlando, Fla., where he was a member of GPS Orlando. Before joining this club, Roman was a member of Orlando City's U16 development academy team where he received multiple invites to U.S. Soccer's training centers in his region. He attended and played for Winter Park High School as well and was named the Orange County Player of the Year. Guiseppi also earned Orlando All-Metro Team honors.
Matthew McGovern | Defender | 6-3 | 180 | Congers, N.Y.
McGovern comes to West Point from Congers, N.Y., where he played for Soccer Domain FC and Don Bosco Preparatory High School. He garnered All-League honors and was named a Bergen County All-Star Selection. McGovern was also tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year and MVP of his high school team. He was a member of the National Honors Society as well.
Noah Sinyangwe | Forward | 5-10 | 165 | Orlando, Fla.
Sinyangwe played for GPS Orlando and Winter Park High School prior to his arrival at Army. He earned All-Conference Team nods in high school, while also garnering the Golden Boot his sophomore season. Sinyangwe was named his high school team's MVP as well.
Christian Takaki | Midfielder | 5-9 | 158 | Harrisburg, Pa.
A midfielder from Harrisburg, Pa., Takaki arrives at West Point after playing for PA Classics with the U16 and U18 age groups of the USSDA and Cedar Cliff High School. He also had the honor of representing the United States as a member of the U18 U.S. Men's National Team at the Lisbon International Tournament in Portugal, where he started against Norway and Portugal. Takaki was associated with the National Honors Society three of his four years of high school.
Eric Whiteman | Defender | 6-2 | 183 | Elgin, Ill.
Whiteman is joining the Black Knights from Campton United. Prior to that he played for Chicago Magic PSG of the FC United Soccer Club, a team that is well-known in Illinois and around the country due to being in the USSDA. Whiteman also attended Elgin High School, where he played varsity soccer for one year. While there, he was a member of the National Honor Society and was elected as the Student Body President by his peers.
AJ Yerkes | Forward | 6-0 | 172 | Columbus, Ga.
Yerkes arrives from Columbus, Ga., where he attended Columbus High School. He played club soccer with Birmingham United. He was a four-time All-Bi City First Team recipient, while helping his high school team win the 2016 Georgia State Championship. Yerkes was a member of the National Honors Society.
