Nguyen Awarded AAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Michael Nguyen of the Army West Point men's tennis team was named the Army Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week following his undefeated performance to open Patriot League play last weekend.
The San Jose, Calif., native recorded four wins and one no-decision over the weekend. In the first match, Nguyen along with doubles partner Grant Riechmann, helped to secure the doubles points against Holy Cross with a 6-3 victory.
Nguyen then went on to capture a singles point in the No. 1 flight scoring 6-0, 6-1 against Holy Cross. Later that evening, Nguyen took down Blest Jones from Loyola 6-1, 6-0, to give the Black Knights another important point on the day.
During the final day of competition, Nguyen and Riechmann started off scoring against Bucknell with a 6-4 win in doubles. In the singles round Nguyen racked up his only non-decision on the weekend at the No. 1 flight with scores of 6-3, 2-6, 3-2.
After the weekend, Army improves to 14-8 on the season and 4-0 in Patriot League play. The Black Knights will take a break from league play this weekend as they host Binghamton and Quinnipiac on April 2.
