Smith Recognized as AAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior pitcher Caroline Smith of the Army West Point softball team was named the Army Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week following her stellar performance in Florida last week.
Smith posted a record of 3-0 while throwing three complete games for the Black Knights. She recorded two shutout victories and allowed just two earned runs in her 21.0 innings. The Chino Hills, Calif., native dropped her earned run average to a Patriot League best 1.89. Additionally, Smith went 2-for-8 (.250 avg.) at the plate with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI.
Smith eclipsed the 500 innings pitched plateau in the victory against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday and has now logged 501.1 innings in the circle.
The Black Knights return to action on Wednesday in a doubleheader against Yale with the first game slated for 3:30 p.m.
