Hoffman Reels In Academic All-League Nod

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army West Point senior Mac Hoffman was honored Wednesday after being voted to the men's basketball Academic All-Patriot League Team.

Hoffman was one of five athletes in the league who received this praise. The accolade hands the Pleasanton, Calif., native his second academic nod of the year as he was also named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

This senior forward is a two-time academic honor roll selection, a two-time Distinguished Cadet Award Recipient, a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society and a six-time Dean's List honoree. He carries a 3.71 cumulative GPA as a systems engineering major and is one of just three league players to have earned a 4.0 GPA or higher during the last two spring semesters.

On the court, this team captain is seventh in the Patriot League averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, adding 6.2 points per game, while starting 30 games for a young Black Knights team.

American senior forward Charlie Jones was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Corvias Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Joining those two on the Academic All-League Team were Nana Foulland and Kimbal Mackenzie from Bucknell as well as Nick Lindner from Lafayette.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The Corvias Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each individual sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Corvias Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for this honor.
