Men’s Tennis Cruises by Lehigh 4-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team won for the third time in as many times in Patriot League action on Friday afternoon. The Black Knights defeated Lehigh 4-1 to improve to 14-7 overall this spring. The Mountain Hawks are now 12-4 on the year and 3-2 in league play.
Army began the day by securing the doubles point. Senior Harrison McCormick and junior Grant Riechmann shutout Jeremy Kochman and Grant Lehman 6-0 in the top doubles flight while junior Sam Lampman and sophomore Michael Nguyen took a 6-3 victory in the second doubles slot over Bryant Born and Ricardo Prince. Lampman and Nguyen have paired for a 6-1 record this spring.
Nguyen and McCormick produced wins in the fourth and sixth singles flights, respectively, and freshman David Mitchell clinched the win in the third singles spot. Nguyen is the first Cadet to reach 10 singles wins this spring and has won six of his last seven matches. For McCormick and Mitchell, it was the first singles win for each of them since March 26.
The Black Knights face Boston University on Sunday at noon. Before the match begins, the eight Army seniors on the roster will be honored before the match.
