Glenn Named AAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior all-arounder Jesse Glenn was named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week following his performance at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships over the weekend where he was crowned a national champion on high bar en route to earning four All-America certificates.

Glenn is the second gymnast this season to earn AAA honors, joining freshman Cole Casanova selected Feb. 1, in earning his first of the season and fourth weekly plaudit the past two years.

The Nissen-Emery Award Finalist helped key Army's rally in the team scoring the first day of the meet. Glenn finished runner-up in all-around with an 84.60 in earning his first USAG All-America certificate in closing out his performance where he recorded Army's top marks on high bar, posting a winning mark of 15.45 in breaking his own school record, pommel horse (13.55), vault (14.45) and tied with Nathan Goff on parallel bars (14.35).

Heading to the individual finals in three events, Glenn added three more USAG All-America certificates (top six) starting with his national title on high bar, where he is currently ranked second in the country, after beating the field with a 14.825 score. He is just the second Black Knight to claim a national title, joining Brian Lee who was crowned a still rings champion in 2003.

The California native earned All-America honors on parallel bars (14.275, third) and vault (15.25, fourth) for a total of nine certificates in his Army career after picking up five in 2014. He is a two-time selection in all-around, high bar and parallel bars.

The post-season run continues for Glenn and his teammates as No. 12 Army travels to Williamsburg, Va., for the 2016 ECAC Championships hosted by William & Mary, April 2-3. The Black Knights are the defending champions and head into the meet first in the conference.
