Pitching Leads Seton Hall Past Baseball

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Cullen Dana pitched 7.0 no-hit innings and the Seton Hall offense backed the Pirates in an 11-0 decision in game one of Saturday's doubleheader over the Army West Point baseball team.
The Seton Hall left-hander struck out nine Army batters and walked two over his seven innings before he was replaced in the eighth inning after 96 pitches. Dana improved to 4-0 and the Pirates (16-6) ran their winning streak to 12 games with the win.
Leading 7-0 heading into the eighth, Sam Barum came on for Dana out of the Seton Hall bullpen. After getting a popup for the first out, pinch hitter Matt Hudgins ripped a single back up the middle to break up the no-hitter. Army was unable to muster any more offense and Seton Hall tacked on four runs in the bottom of the eighth to run the final score to 11-0. Anthony Pacillo pitched the ninth and retired the side in order to close the victory.
Army (8-13) starting pitcher Matt Ball (2-3) threw 4.1 innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits. Freshman relief pitcher Cam Opp surrendered a pair of runs on two base hits in 2.2 innings of work, before classmate Sam Messina pitched the ninth.
Mikael-Ali Mogues, Derek Jenkins and Zack Weigel each had two hits for Seton Hall and combined for seven RBI.
Game two of Saturday's the doubleheader is underway.
