FINAL RESULTS
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Army West Point golf team finished the final round of the Hayt Collegiate Invitational Sunday with the Black Knights' lowest team score of the tournament to place 11th. The Cadets totaled 315-293-290—898 (+34) on the weekend.
"There are so many positives to take away from the tournament," said head coach Brian Watts. "Although we had a tough start, the team was able to fight back each round and finish strong. Whether it was course management or loose shots they finished strong the last two rounds and were able to post good numbers."
Three Black Knights stroked 72 today to be at even-par. Dean Sakata and Marcus Plunkett led Army as they both tied for 22nd. Sakata carded a 72 today, while Plunkett stroked 74 in the final round to both finish six-over on the weekend. Matt Plunkett finished T-36th with a total of 80-74-72—226.
Peter Kim was tied for 80th overall with 237 strokes and Justin Pagila ranked 84th with 240.
"We will build on what we learned this weekend," Watts said. "We have three weeks before the next tournament so we have time to make adjustments. The team is looking forward to their spring break trip in Pinehurst, which will also include a day at Fort Bragg with our fellow service members."
The Black Knights will be back in action at the Seahawk Invitational March 20-21 in Wilmington, N.C. Last year, Army finished third at the invitational.
