Women’s Tennis Tops Marist

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team continued its series domination against Marist on Friday night. The Black Knights topped the Red Foxes for the 19th time in as many matches, this time around by the score of 6-1. The Cadets record improves to 8-3 on the year while Marist falls to 1-5.
Kirby Einck continued her recent run of good play. The freshman won her fourth straight singles match by defeating Chloe Lant 6-0, 6-3 in the third singles flight. For Lant, it was her first loss of the season. Einck partnered with Carolyn Pitman for a 6-4 win in the top doubles match. That pairing is now 6-0 this year while Pitman has won all eight of her spring doubles matches.
Only one singles match went into a third set which also marked the first time freshman Genevieve McCormick had to play into a third set. The Berwyh, Pa. native showed her merit by dominating with a 10-1 victory in the decisive set. McCormick lost 2-6 in the first set and won 6-4 the second frame.
The Black Knights return to the court for another doubleheader against Fordham and NJIT tomorrow. First serve is set for 10 a.m. against the Rams.
