Black Knights Shutout Bonnies

Final Results
WEST POINT, N.Y. – A trio of Army West Point women's tennis players earned their first singles victories of the 2016 spring season as the Black Knights shutout St. Bonaventure 7-0 on Friday night. Army moves to 4-1 on the year while the Bonnies fall to 1-4.
Sera Martorelli and Rugile Valuniate each earned their first career spring victories as the freshmen had vastly different matches. Martorelli cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win in the number six singles position while Valuniate had to battle back after falling 6-0 in the top singles spot. The Willowbrook, Ill., native rallied for a 6-3 win in the second set before winning 10-6 in the final frame.
Eva Sung participated in her first match of the spring. The Black Knights captain won 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 in the number two singles position. Caroline Lorenzini, also playing for the first time in the spring season, paired with Sung in the third doubles position spot for a 6-2 victory.
Nancy Porter remained undefeated in doubles on the season. Working with Kirby Einck in the second doubles spot, Porter improved to 5-0 in doubles this season. The pairing of Porter and Einck are 2-0 in dual matches and 6-2 overall dating back to the fall.
Army returns to the court tomorrow for a doubleheader with Massachusetts and Vassar. UMass enters with a 2-3 record while the Brewers have yet to compete this season.
