Franco Tabbed AAA Athlete of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Freshman forward Dominic Franco of the Army West Point hockey team has been tabbed the Army Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week for his five-point performance last weekend in the team's sweep over Canisius.

In Friday's 3-0 shutout over the Golden Griffins, Franco assisted on two goals before netting the first of his career. Then on Saturday, the Portsmouth, R.I., native continued to excel and added a second goal and third assist on the weekend during the Black Knights' 5-2 victory. In all, Franco tallied five points on the weekend and now has seven this season.

After capturing a weekend sweep over Canisius, the Army West Point hockey team received a nod in this week's USCHO Division I Hockey Poll. It is the second time this season that the Black Knights have earned votes, the last being on Oct. 14.

The Black Knights travel to RIT on Friday and Saturday for two Atlantic Hockey contests, both slated for 7:05 p.m.
