Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 20 DePaul

CHICAGO – The Army West Point women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to No. 20 DePaul on Friday afternoon at Wish Field. Jordan Cassalia made six saves for the Black Knights in goal.
The result dropped Army to 2-3-0 on the season, while DePaul improved to 4-0-1 in 2015.
DePaul quickly took control with a goal in the second minute of the match. Alexa Ben took a feed from Abby Reed and beat Army goalkeeper Jordan Cassalia inside the left post at the 90 second mark. Ben's goal was her second of the season.
The home side continued to pressure Army's back line and forced Cassalia to make consecutive saves on attempts by Elizabeth Endy and Elise Wyatt in the 10th and 12th minutes, respectively.
Sophomore Clare Shea had a shot sail high of the goal and then a pair of Army corner kicks in the 31st minute were cleared away from danger by the DePaul defense.
DePaul doubled its advantage in the 40th minute when Madeline Frick was set up by Wyatt and the Blue Demons took the 2-0 lead into the break.
Cassalia kept the deficit at 2-0 with two saves in the first 15 minutes of the second half. The score held at 2-0 in favor of DePaul and Army's best chance of the contest came in the 87th minute when Bailey Widman forced Alejandria Godinez to make a save. Godinez finished with a shutout as the Blue Demons recorded their fourth straight clean sheet.
Shortly after, DePaul put the finishing touches on its victory when Cerny Franny netted her second marker of the year. Reed and Frick each picked up assists on the 90th minute tally.
Army returns to action on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Loyola Chicago at 2 p.m. ET.
