Bockrath Captures AAA Athlete of the Week Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After leading the Black Knights' offense against nationally regarded teams, Carolyn Bockrath of the Army West Point volleyball team has been named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week. The yearling earns the honor for the second time as a Black Knight after a career-high performance at the Arkansas Invitational.

Bockrath was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading Army's offense during all three games. She accumulated 48 kills on 83 attempts for a .518 hitting percentage in 11 sets. Bockrath averaged 5.05 points per set to rank first on the team. The Newport Beach, Calif., native also tallied 10 digs and 12 blocks in the three matches.

The Black Knights suffered a 3-0 loss to Big 12 powerhouse Kansas and had a 3-1 loss to host Arkansas of the Southeastern Conference.

Army defeated McNeese State 3-1 with a career-high performance by Bockrath. She totaled 28 kills with only one error for a hitting percentage of .659.

Army hosts the annual Black Knight Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Christl Arena. The Black Knights will face Iona (Sept. 5), William & Mary (Sept. 5) and Cornell (Sept. 6).
