PL Announces Men’s Soccer 25th Anniversary Team

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League Men's Soccer 25th Anniversary Team was announced on Monday and included former Army West Point standouts Winston Boldt (USMA '14), A.J. Florkowski (USMA '97) and Tony Parilli (USMA '96). Army West Point's three selections were among 25 players from across the Patriot League to be recognized.
The team members are listed below by school, with seasons representing the athlete's years of competition in the Patriot League. Each school that participates in men's soccer selected 25 players in the voting for the 25th Anniversary Team, and could not vote for its own student-athletes.

The honorees have combined to win 31 individual League awards for Player, Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Year. The group has also combined to make 10 All-America squads and earn 71 All-Patriot League honors, while six 25th Anniversary Team members also appeared on the Patriot League All-Decade Team which was selected for competition from 1990-2000. More than half of the 25 Patriot League champions featured at least one 25th Anniversary Team member on the squad.
The Patriot League is releasing 25th Anniversary Teams throughout the month of August for each sport that has been sponsored by the League since it became an all-sport conference beginning in the 1990-91 season. In addition to the 25th Anniversary Teams, coverage throughout the 2015-16 season will focus on former student-athletes and top stories in the history of the Patriot League.

Patriot League Men's Soccer 25th Anniversary Team
Mayowa Alli, Bucknell (2010-13) – Alli captured Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors in 2010 in helping the Bison win their second League tournament title in program history. He would go on to earn first team All-Patriot League honors as a sophomore and senior and also was recognized as an NSCAA All-Region both years. In 2013, he was recognized with NSCAA third-team All-American honors.
Winston Boldt, Army West Point (2011-14) – An NSCAA second-team All-America selection as a junior and senior, Boldt is one of three players in Patriot League history to earn seven Goalkeeper of the Week awards. He is third in Patriot League history with 24 career shutouts, including a dozen as a junior. Boldt was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year in both 2013 and 2014 as well as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a junior.
Evan Bruno, Lehigh (1999-02) – Second all-time in Patriot League scoring with 101 career points (40G, 21A), Bruno helped the Mountain Hawks capture their only men's soccer crown in 2000 by scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Bucknell in the tournament semifinals. Bruno was named to the first-team All-Patriot League squad three times, was the League's Offensive Player of the Year twice and an NSCAA All-America second-team selection in 2001.
Brendan Burgdorf, Bucknell (2009-12) – As a freshman, Burgdorf scored the game-winning goal in Bucknell's 1-0 win over Princeton in the 2009 NCAA Tournament first round. He would go onto to record 55 points on 20G, 15A in his career with the Bison. Burgdorf was a four-time NSCAA All-Region selection, a three-time All-Patriot League choice and the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and NSCAA third-team All-America as a senior.
David Cappuccio, Colgate (2005-08) – Cappuccio ranks fourth all-time in the Patriot League record book with a career goals against average of 0.71 and 23 career shutouts. Twice named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, he also was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament team after helping Colgate win League titles in 2007 and 2008. Cappuccio was named to the All-Patriot League Team three times and was NSCAA All-Region twice.
Mark Dutkewych, Lafayette (1992-95) – One of only seven players to earn All-Patriot League honors four times, Dutkewych helped the Leopards capture their first league titles in 1994 and 1995. A member of the All-Decade team, he twice was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and was also named to the NSCAA All-America third team as a junior.
A.J. Florkowski, Army West Point (1995-98) – The Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 1995, Florkowski exploded in the 1996 Patriot League Tournament with two goals in each of the Black Knights postseason wins over Lafayette and Navy en route to being named MVP. His marks of four points in a game and eight points over two games are still in the League record book. Florkowski was a three-time All-Patriot League performer and the League's Offensive Player of the Year in 1996.
Joseph Greenspan, Navy (2011-14) – A first team NSCAA All-America in 2014 after being named to the third team as a junior, Greenspan was named to the first-team All-League squad twice and was also the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in each of his final two seasons. Greenspan was named to the 2013 Patriot League All-Tournament team after helping the Mids win their first-ever Patriot League title.
Rusty Giudici, Holy Cross (1999-2002) – Giudici helped lead the Crusaders to the Patriot League title game as both a junior and senior, with the team capturing its first crown in the latter year. A three-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, Giudici was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2002. Giudici was also the 2002 Patriot League Tournament MVP and the Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete.
Jono Halverson, Navy (1991-92) – One of the most versatile players to ever don the Mids uniform, Halverson played everywhere on the pitch except goalkeeper during his four-year career. Halverson was a two-time first-team All-Patriot League selection and was named the Patriot League Player of the Year in 1992. Halverson was also named to the Patriot League All-Decade team.
Kevin Jackson, Lehigh (1996-99) – Jackson, the 1996 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, is one of seven players to earn All-Patriot League honors four times. He set a Patriot League single-season record that still stands with 15 assists during the 1997 campaign and is currently fourth all-time in League history with 26 career assists. Jackson holds the Mountain Hawks single-game record of three assists set in a 5-1 win over Manhattan in 1998.
Michael Lookingland, Bucknell (2001-04) – Lookingland finished a stellar four-year career with the Bison as a three-time All-Patriot League selection who also received NSCAA All-Region honors three times. He was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. Lookingland was drafted by Real Salt Lake of the MLS and had a long and successful indoor career with the Baltimore Blast.
Steven Miller, Colgate (2008-11) – Miller ranks in the top 10 in Patriot League history with 27 career goals and was part of three championship teams with the Raiders. He was named to the All-Patriot League Team three times and capped off his career by being recognized as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, NSCAA All-Region and Patriot League Tournament MVP in 2011.
Andrew Mittendorf, Lehigh (1995-98) – Entering the 2015 season, no Patriot League player had amassed as many career points (106) or goals (43) as Mittendorf nor surpassed his single-season marks of 24 goals and 49 points in 1998. A two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, he is a three-time selection to the All-Patriot League team and was named to the All-Decade team in 2000.
Bobby Newman, Colgate (1992-95) – Newman was named to the first-team All-Patriot League squad three times and was a member of the Raiders first League championship team in 1992. His 19 goals and 45 points tallied in 1994 are both second all-time in the Patriot League annals. Newman ranks fourth all-time in League history in points (85) and goals (37). He was a two-time NSCAA All-Region and was an NSCAA All-America selection in 1994.
Matt Ney, Holy Cross (1999-2002) – No player amassed more Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards than the seven by Ney during his four years with the Crusaders. A member of Holy Cross' League championship squad in 2002, Ney was twice named the League's Offensive Player of the Year and ranks third in Patriot League history in career points (92) and goals (38).
Conor O'Brien, Bucknell (2006-09) – O'Brien helped the Bison win Patriot League titles in both his freshman and senior campaigns and was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year in each of his final two seasons. He is one of only two players to rank in the top 10 in League history in both goals (26) and assists (25). He was named the Philly Soccer News Men's College Player of the Year as a senior and to the All-Patriot League Team three times, and was a second-team NSCAA All-American as a senior in 2009.
John O'Reilly, Lehigh (2003-06) – The only first team NSCAA All-American in program history, O'Reilly was part of a Mountain Hawks squad that was undefeated in League play during the 2006 regular season and set a program record with 15 victories. A two-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, O'Reilly was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 2006.
Michael Paisant, Navy (1997-2000) – Paisant, the 1997 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, would go on to make the All-Patriot League Team in each of his final three seasons and help the Mids reach the League Championship game in 1999. He ranks in the top 10 in program history in points and assists and was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year in his junior campaign.
Tony Parilli, Army West Point (1993-96) – A member of two Patriot League champion teams with the Black Knights, Parilli was a three-time first-team All-Patriot League selection and the 1993 Patriot League Rookie of the Year. Parilli was named to the Patriot League All-Decade team.
Brian Petz, Holy Cross (1992-1995) – Petz ranks in the top 10 in Patriot League history in career points (7th, 74), career goals (5th, 34) and single season goals (8th, 13). A first-team All-Patriot League choice in 1994 and 1995, Petz was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete as a senior. He was chosen for the Patriot League All-Decade team as well.
Cristobal Soto, American (2010-13) – Soto helped lead the Eagles to Patriot League regular season title in 2011 and 2012 and was named to the first-team All-Patriot League squad and the League All-Tournament team in both campaigns. In 2012, he anchored a back line that surrendered a League-low 16 goals in 17 contests and was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.
Brian Steckroth, Navy (1998-2001) – The career leader in Defensive Player of the Week awards with seven, Steckroth was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and senior for his play between the pipes for the Mids. Steckroth was also a second team NSCAA All-America selection and three-time first team All-Patriot League choice. His 0.49 GAA in 2001 ranks fourth all-time in the Patriot League record book.
Kevin Strunk, Lehigh (2008-11) – Strunk was twice named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and also received first-team All-Patriot League honors as a junior and senior. He helped anchor a Mountain Hawk defense that surrendered a League-low eight goals in 17 matches and tied for the most team shutouts with 10 in 2011.
Josh Trott, Holy Cross (2003-2006) – The Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2003, Trott was named to the All-Patriot League Team four times. He capped off a brilliant career by receiving the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year award as a senior. Trott ranks eighth all-time in Patriot League history in career points (73) and sixth in career goals (33).
