Army Ties Yale in Inaugural Bush Cup

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – After trailing as much as four points in Friday's Inaugural Bush Cup, the Army West Point golf team earned 4.5 points in the individual round of the event to come back and tie the Bulldogs, 6-6.
Yale led the Black Knights 2.5 to 1.5 at the start of the individual matches, but Army came back to tie the match off a chip in by senior captain Marcus Plunkett in the rain.
This was the first year of the Bush Cup which was created to honor former President of the United States George H.W. Bush. Army, Yale and the Winged Foot Golf Club joined together to put on the event which mimicked Walker Cup format.
The teams sent out four foursomes in the morning and eight individuals in the afternoon with a total of 12 points at stake. Both teams earned six points which resulted in a tie.
