Men’s Basketball Begins Preseason Practice
October 05, 2015 | Men's Basketball
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point men's basketball team opened its preseason on Monday afternoon with its first official team practice inside Christl Arena.
Under the direction of seventh-year head coach Zach Spiker, Army returns all five starters to the team and 91.6 percent of its scoring from last season. The Black Knights won 15 games for the third consecutive year in 2014-15, marking the first time the program had three consecutive seasons with at least 15 victories since 1967-70.
"Every year it is always exciting to start practice. We have a veteran group and they know what is expected of them," Spiker said following practice on Monday. "We have a lot of work to do and there are a lot of areas where we need to improve, but we are happy to be back on the court."
Army opens its season on Nov. 13 when it hosts Ferrum College at Christl Arena at 5 p.m.
