Assistant Athletic Trainer
David Allen joined the Army Athletic Association as an assistant athletic trainer in 1989.
Allen has worked with a bevy of sports during his time at West Point, including cross country and track & field, football, gymnastics, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, wrestling, swimming, water polo and The Rabble Rousers.
The primary athletic trainer for Army's tennis programs, Allen is an Approved Clinical Instructor and is a BOC certified athletic trainer, as well as, an American Red Cross Instructor for CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer and lay responder. His state license in massage therapy is pending.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, he earned his bachelor's degree in industrial arts and technology education and his master's in physical education and athletic training from Indiana University. He is also a recent graduate of the Hudson Valley School of Massage Therapy.
Allen began his athletic training career as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Wagner College before entering the master's program at Indiana University. He spent three years at Saint Peter's College before coming to West Point.
He has served as a head athletic trainer for USA Track and Field all over the world at a host of competitions, the ESPN Extreme Games, the U.S. Olympic Festival, U.S. Luge Association and U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Allen is a member of the American Bodywork and Massage Professionals, the American Massage Therapy Association, the American Red Cross, Eastern Athletic Trainers Association, Kinesio Taping Association, National Athletic Trainers Association, New York Society of Medical Massage Therapists and USA Track & Field Sports Medicine Society. He is a New York State licensed Massage Therapist.
