Hoffman Press Box

An 8,000-square-foot, two-story facility, sparkling new Hoffman Press Box features greatly enhanced amenities for those members of the electronic and print media covering the Black Knights. The first floor of Hoffman Press Box houses seating space for approximately 100 media members and a "state-of-the-art" television broadcast location at the 50-yard line. Hoffman's second level features radio, coaches', video, athletic directors' and game operations booths.

Funding for the project was provided by the Association of Graduates' Bicentennial Campaign plan as part of the "Margin of Excellence" initiative implemented at the outset of the fund-raising drive. Mark B. Hoffman (USMA '69) pledged $5 million toward the construction costs of the new, state-of-the-art press box.

"Hoffman Press Box is one of the finest media centers in the country," explains Army Assoc. Athletic Director for Media Relations Bob Beretta upon its completion. "The facility contains 'cutting-edge' technology for both print and broadcast media members. The radio and television booths are very spacious and the site lines throughout the press box have been tremendously enhanced. With this construction and the recent lighting upgrade, Michie Stadium has gone from being one of the country's most challenging facilities from which to televise an event, to one of the nation's most user-friendly broadcast venues."

In addition to Hoffman Press Box, an impressive Media Room has been added to Army's caché of facilities. Located on the second floor of Kimsey Athletic Center, just above the players' locker room, the Media Room also serves as site for some of Army's pregame and postgame interviews, as well as a convenient interview area for Black Knight players and coaches, alike.

Widely viewed as one of the nation's most scenic settings for college football, Michie Stadium is now one of the best-suited to service the media.
